The Scripture

Psalm 6:2-3 ESV

Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am languishing; heal me, O Lord, for my bones are troubled. My soul also is greatly troubled. But you, O Lord—how long?

The Passage

To languish is to be weak from long periods of feeling or being stuck in the same place. In this verse, David is begging the Lord for healing. He goes on to say, “I am weary with my moaning; every night I flood my bed with tears; I drench my couch with my weeping.” (Psalm 6:6 ESV)
