The River
Day 11 - Romans 8:15
The Scripture
Romans 8:15 NLT
So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”
The Reflection
It’s hard to run to God with all of your fears and worries if you see Him as an angry God who’s disappointed in you and ruling over you with an iron fist.
In the past, when I found myself in an extremely difficult season, I thought it was because I had done something to cause it, and I was forced to accept this punishment. Or possibly that someone else had done something to make God angry, and I was just in the path of destruction. It made me resentful and hesitant to run to Him in times of need.
The enemy will try to convince you that you’re in trouble with the Lord. That it’s better to hide in shame and live in fear than run to Jesus. This is a lie.
