The Peak
Day 56 - Psalm 139:13-14
Scripture
Psalm 139:13-14 ESV
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
Reflection
This is a popular verse, and I think most believers are familiar with it. It sounds sweet, but when you dive a bit deeper into the meaning of these words, it’s so much more.
The Hebrew translation of the word “fearfully” means with great reverence, heartfelt interest, and with respect.
The Hebrew translation of the word “wonderfully” means unique and set apart.
How beautiful is it to know that our Father designed us all to be unique, set apart, with respect and genuine heartfelt interest in who we are? He knows the dreams you have because He planted that seed long ago. He gave us each unique skills and passions with a purpose to match.
When we compare ourselves to others, we miss the depth inside that makes us so special. We are His children, and He delights in us. He says there is no flaw in us. He sees the best parts of us, even when we don’t. He knows us fully and loves every little detail. So the next time you are doubting your worth, know that the King of kings made you in His image.
Prayer
Father, You are the most wonderful God. You are the one we should have reverence for, yet You made each one of us with reverence—in Your perfect image. I am so honored to serve You, Lord, and I am beyond grateful to be called a daughter of the King. Thank You for seeing the best in me. It’s such a blessing to know that You respect me, take an interest in me, and set me apart from this world. I am Your child, and You love every part of me. Forgive me when I believe the lies of the enemy. The world tells me that I’m not enough, and too often I believe it. I speak harsh words over myself, and I pray for a crop failure over every one of them in Your name, Jesus, and I thank You in advance. Amen.
