The Peak
Day 55 - Matthew 5:14
Scripture
Matthew 5:14 NIV
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
Reflection
As a Christian who is dedicated to following Jesus, your life should look different. If you are living a life that looks the same as a nonbeliever, you are not following the Good Shepherd. You might know and believe in Jesus, but somewhere along the way, you’ve made a wrong turn. If you’ve lost your way, I urge you to get into the Word. It’s the best way to recognize His voice and find your way back home.
When you are truly living your life for Jesus, you’ll begin to see the world through a spiritual lens, and it becomes easier to recognize many normalized behaviors as tools to deter you from the righteous path. So be prepared for things to change, for relationships to come and go, and to be met with resistance.
Your faith will be tested, and a more refined version of yourself will emerge. You will be made new, and you will shine so bright that it will be hard for others to recognize you. It might even be a journey to recognize yourself once you’ve been stripped of all the habits that once defined you. It may take some time to settle into your new role as a Child of God, and that’s okay.
I would rather stand out and honor Jesus than follow the world straight to hell. You are meant to stand out. You have a purpose. You are set apart. Don’t be afraid to shine your light for all to see, and if they can’t look at it just yet … it might be because they have a darkness within, and they’re not ready to expose it in the light. It’s not personal. Maybe they just aren’t quite ready to see the master they really serve. Shine your light anyway, and let the Lord illuminate their path.
Prayer
Father, thank You for blessing me with another day, another chance to step into my calling and honor You. Please help me to be more like You so that my life becomes a beautiful reflection of Your love, grace, and mercy. I pray that You will plant a seed in everyone’s heart that You place in my path. Forgive me when my attitude, words, and actions do not align with Your Word, when I forget that I am a daughter of the Most High God, one who represents the Kingdom of Heaven. I pray that Your light shines through me so brightly that it illuminates every room I walk into. I pray they see You in me, Lord. I ask these things in Your precious and holy name, amen.
