The Peak
Day 58 - Psalm 139:16
Scripture
Psalm 139:16 NIV
Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
Reflection
Our story is so precious to God.
He has planned every day and every moment of our lives. Although we have free will, every challenge that we face, every tear that we cry, and every victory is already written. The beautiful thing about our Father is that even though He already knows what we’re going to say ... He still listens. He is never going to turn you away or say, “I told you so.”
This was a big revelation for me. I have been with my husband for so long now that I feel like I know exactly what he’s going to say, how he’s going to respond, and every opinion he holds. This is a beautiful thing, but not if I’m not willing to listen to him because of it. If I really want to be like Jesus, I should listen to his stories and his day, even if I already know what’s coming. It’s his life, and if I want to be a part of it forever, it’s important to hear him, be present, and responsive.
God is always here for us, regardless of the mess we’ve made. When we are faced with big choices, He wants us to run to Him. When we’re sad, He wants to comfort us. When we’re afraid, He is our hiding place and shelter from the storm. When we’re on top of the world, He wants us to praise Him and give Him the glory. If I want my marriage to be a reflection of Jesus, I need to love like Him.
He is the God of the hills and valleys. If we cry to Him in the valley, we should praise Him from every mountain top. I should keep that same energy when it comes to my marriage. I should be there through the ups and downs. We should wipe each other’s tears when we’re at rock bottom, and give words of affirmation when were proud of each other.
Even if you’re not in a romantic relationship now, it’s still important to understand this concept. So when you meet the right person, your friend needs to vent, or your coworker has a bad day … we can love each other to the fullest.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for being such a good Father to me. Thank You for always being there to listen, even when you already know what I’m going to say. Thank You for blessing me all the days of my life. Every achievement, every blessing, every good and wonderful thing comes from You. Thank You for the people You have placed in my life. Teach me to love like You, Jesus. Help me to control my tongue, listen even when I already know what they’re going to say, and be a blessing in their lives. Let me be a reflection of You, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Reflection Question
Who are the people God has placed in your life, and what do they need the most from you right now? Encouragement, patience, forgiveness, presence, or truth?
How can you express your love to those people in practical, everyday ways?
Thank You!
